Where is seve ballesteros from
I feel special when I go to dad's home - which I still think it's not my home, it is his home. The house is completely the same as when he was with us and I love going there. We are just one more family in the village, the same as any other there, probably because they all watched him grow up and become a superstar. I really feel special every time I am there. Wonderful interview with the son of the most charismatic golfer ever yes including Tiger. Seve was a hero and inspiration to all European golfers, all golf fans and obviously to his family too.

That St Andrews celebration is without doubt the greatest celebration in the history of sports. Peter Alliss described it perfectly - he said it was simply wonderful He was a golf version of Roy of the Rovers.

As a kid in a council estate in East London, golf was the last sport I should have played, but I did because I was mesmerised by watching Seve play in the masters, I'm not surprised he was as good a father as he was a golfer, a rare human being.
Thanks for the inspiration Seve! Comment posted by Grumpygit, at 7 May Grumpygit. Saw him practice the year before he won the Open, he hit a fade, he hit a draw, he hit it high, he hit it low and all his caddie was doing was moving no more the 5 yards in ant direction to pick up the balls yards away.
The man was a genius with his clubs and did so so much to spearhead European golf and we would not be anywhere near where we are now without him. Comment posted by qazxswedc, at 7 May qazxswedc. Seve had such passion and passed on that legacy to golf, his family, his country and to the sporting world. He brought joy into a lot of people's lives, and saw no fear in trying the improbable, but also saw no fear in his last few weeks.
Seve gave a interview with Peter Allis, he never would give up. Seve , thanks for your inspiration. I never played golf and the little I know about it I gleaned from television, but I always watched out for Seve as he was such a great player and, more than that, seemed such a thoroughly nice man.
Always acknowledging the crowd and always with that great beaming smile on his face. A great loss to sport but this is a wonderful tribute to him and he will never be forgotten. SherbertDipper replied: I remember my dad, who had no interest in sport saying that when he watched Seve the hairs on the back of his neck stood up! He said the same thing about George Best. Good judge of a man my dad! Sprayed it everywhere, lost to Lane but had all the time in the world for me when packing his gear up to go.
Sorely missed. I got his signature, I remember the dazzling smile, what a fantastic genuine man, an awesome golfer, and by the sound of it a great dad! Ballesteros went on to win the Order of Merit on the European tour that year, the first of six such titles. Two years later, he won the first time he teed it up in America, a one-shot victory at the Greater Greensboro Open. His first major came a year later, at Royal Lytham in the British Open, where he made birdie from the parking lot.
But I finished the hole quicker than the rest of the field. That was the name of the game. Partly because of his humble roots, partly because of his Spanish blood, Ballesteros always played as though he had something to prove. Even after some called him "Car Park Champion" for his shot at Lytham, the Spaniard showed that was no fluke when he arrived at Augusta National the next year. He obliterated the field in the Masters, much like Woods did in Applying his genius to a course built for imagination, he became at 23 the youngest Masters champion until Woods won at age Ballesteros won the Masters again in , and he was equally dominant in golf's oldest championship.
He won the British Open in at St. Despite his five majors and 87 titles around the world, Ballesteros forever will be linked to the Ryder Cup. He developed an "us against them" attitude that became infectious with what had been an inferior European team. He made his teammates believe. Ballesteros was headed for defeat in at PGA National, his ball beneath the lip of a bunker, some yards from the green, when he lashed a 3-wood to the fringe and escaped with a halve against Fuzzy Zoeller.
The Americans narrowly won, but the Ryder Cup was never the same after that year -- and perhaps after that shot. He teamed with Jose Maria Olazabal to become the most formidable partnership in Ryder Cup history, producing an record. In his final Ryder Cup, at Oak Hill in , he played Tom Lehman in singles and didn't hit a single fairway on the front nine, yet was only 1 down.
Lehman calls it the greatest nine holes he ever saw. The funeral will be Wednesday in Pedrena, with family and intimate friends, attending the subsequent wake. Three days of official mourning will be held in Cantabria, regional government head Miguel Angel Revilla announced.
