It is with great pleasure that I welcome Julie Lennard to the role, leading DVLA at such an important time as it develops into a digital hub for motorists. Julie is an experienced and talented leader and brings a wealth of experience to this crucial role. Prior to this, Julie worked at The National Archives where her responsibilities included developing strategic policy relationships with senior stakeholders and overseeing Parliamentary and legislative issues.

Julie has also worked for Which? Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. His award follows his remarkable achievement upon assumption of position as Chief Executive of DVLA and exceptional feat chalked by the Authority under his leadership in transforming the Authority as an Agency under the Transport Ministry.

Under Mr. During proceedings, Ms Lennard confirmed applications were generally taking between six and 10 weeks to process, but she admitted some applications may take longer. In part, she said some of the delays were down to industrial action that has coincided with a surge in demand after coronavirus lockdown restrictions were eased. That is where the industrial action is really not helping with that sort of thing, as we are seeing on the driver licensing side.

I would say that the vast majority of staff are not taking part in industrial action; they are coming in and working incredibly hard. We have people roughly every single weekend, with people doing overtime voluntarily.

Staff here pride themselves on providing excellent customer service.
